Free Medical Checkups Coming To Bradenton

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) — Thousands are expected to get medical, dental and optical treatment during a free clinic in Bradenton.

More than 700 volunteers have spent a year coordinating the Remote Area Medical event which will be held at the Manatee Technical College Campus on Nov. 21 and 22.

Services, including diabetes screening, teeth extractions, fillings and free prescription eyeglasses, will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with tickets handed out at 3:00 AM each day. Vouchers for free mammograms by a local provider will also be handed out.

Florida has one of the highest rates of uninsured residents in the nation. State lawmakers have also refused to expand Medicaid.

Stan Brock founded RAM to provide medical care to remote areas of the Amazon and has expanded the organization’s reach throughout the United States.
