A pilot was seriously injured in experimental plane crash at 10:37 this morning. Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) responded to the crash in a wooded area of the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport.
Airport officials and HCFR units arrived within several minutes and found the pilot standing near the burning wreckage. The 63-year-old pilot was flown to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries.
Additional HCFR crews rapidly extinguished the plane and wooded area without further incident. The Federal Aviation Authority has been contacted for further investigation.
