TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Tampa officials say Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park will get a facelift before the Republican National Convention comes to town.
Santiago Corrado, the city’s chief of staff, says the improvement plan calls for replacing some trees, patching up some sod and adding and pressure cleaning pavers.
The convention runs Aug. 27 to 30 and is expected to draw some 50,000 people.
The Tampa Tribune (http://bit.ly/wSon1Q ) reports the park reopened in January 2010 after a $43 million facelift. The park runs along the Riverwalk near Tampa’s museum of art and the children’s museum.
Corrada told the newspaper the cost of the renovations hasn’t been determined.
He says a number of projects are ongoing as the city prepares to host the convention.
