Tampa Family Safe After House Catches Fire

At about 7 pm last night, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire that was over 5,000 square feet in size, located at 12602 Casey Road.

Two adults with their two children and three dogs were inside the home at the time of the fire, according to HCFR.

Thanks to smoke alarms and the smell of smoke, they were alerted to the fire, HCFR says. They were all able to exit the house safely and called 911. Upon arrival, HCFR crews reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage area of the home.

A second alarm was called due to the size of the residence. Crews quickly entered the structure and extinguished the flames in the garage area and the attic above preventing any further fire damage to the rest of the house. The Fire Investigator was called to the scene.

There were no reports of injuries to the residents or their pets. The house sustained severe fire damage to the garage area and smoke damage to the rest of the home. At this time the cause of the fire is under investigation. A total of 14 units and over 35 fire rescue personnel responded to this incident. Red Cross was declined by the residents at this time.
