Tampa Cop Killer Won’t Be Executed

Tampa cop killer Humberto Delgado has had his death sentence overturned by the Florida Supreme Court.

Justices say it’s clear Delgado was severely mentally ill when he shot and killed Tampa Police Corporal Mike Roberts during a sidewalk scuffle on August 19, 2009.

That means the death penalty was too harsh a punishment.

The high court has ordered that Delgado be re-sentenced to life in prison.

Corporal Roberts was killed as he tried to arrest Delgado, homeless and pushing a grocery cart full of guns down Nebraska Avenue.
