Suddenly-Closed Brandon Walmart Back Open

A Brandon Walmart that closed this spring under suspicious circumstances is back open.

Company officials say the East Brandon Boulevard store had big plumbing problems, so it was shut down while comprehensive repairs were made.

But the 430 workers laid off believed the store would never be back.

Now, the store, with its new plumbing and expanded floor space, is back open.

Some of the employees laid off in the spring are returning to the Brandon store from nearby Walmarts they were transferred to. Others will stay where they are now. Still others may re-apply if they took the severance option.
