NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are edging higher in early trading on Wall Street, putting the Dow Jones industrial average back above 15,000.
The Dow was up 42 points at 15,011 shortly after the opening bell Tuesday, an increase of 0.3 percent. The Dow first crossed above 15,000 on Friday after the government reported a strong pickup in hiring last month.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was up five points at 1,622, a gain of 0.3 percent. Nine of the 10 industry groups in the index rose, except for health care. Energy companies rose the most.
The Nasdaq composite rose four points, or 0.1 percent, to 3,396.
Fossil, a maker of watches and handbags, rose 8 percent, or $7.70, to $106.53 after reporting that its first-quarter earnings jumped 24 percent.
