A St. Petersburg woman is dead after police say she was fatally shot early this morning outside her home.
Police say a neighbor heard gunshots just before 1 a.m. and discovered Karen Gunther, 47, of 5263 5th Avenue S., lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound to her upper body.
Gunther was transported to Bayfront Medical Hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries.
Police say Gunther was out with a friend less than an hour before the shooting.
The motive is unclear, and police say they no suspects have been identified.
An investigation is ongoing.
