High speed ferry service between St. Petersburg and Tampa is a step closer to reality.
Hillsborough County commissioners voted today to set aside $350 thousand for ferry service between the Vinoy Basin in St. Pete and Tampa’s Channel District.
The St. Petersburg City Council has already approved $350,000 for the project out of its BP oil spill settlement.
The city of Tampa and Pinellas County must also kick in $350 thousand apiece for the project to set sail.
The ferry is part of a bigger plan to unite Tampa Bay.
