St. Pete: Man Hit While Crossing Street At Crosswalk

The St. Petersburg Police Department is currently investigating a pedestrian accident at 5th Avenue North and 25th Street.

According to police, at about 11:23 a.m. this morning a male pedestrian, approximately 50 years of age, was walking northbound across 5th Avenue North in the crosswalk at 25th Street carrying a bag of groceries.

While crossing the street he was struck by a westbound gold colored Nissan Altima driven by a man, with his wife as passenger. After being stuck, the pedestrian flipped up onto the windshield of the car and then fell off onto the roadway.

The pedestrian was transported to Bayfront Hospital with serious injuries. The occupants of the Nissan were treated by paramedics at scene for minor injuries, but did not require hospitalization.
