Smoke from brush fire closes portion of I-75

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) _ The Florida Highway Patrol has closed a portion of Interstate 75 known as Alligator Alley and State Road 29 in Collier County due to smoke and fog.

Troopers closed the highways early Monday.

I-75 is closed in both directions between Mile Marker 101 in Collier County and Mile Marker in Broward County.

Also in Collier County, officials have closed State Road 29 between U.S. 41 and Oil Well Road.

The Naples Daily News (http://bit.ly/XzQuEJ ) reports a brush fire in Big Cypress National Preserve has added to the poor visibility.

There was no word when the roads would reopen.
