Smoke Alarm Saves Two Lives In Spring Hill

Two people escaped a Spring Hill fire early Wednesday morning fire thanks to their smoke alarm.

Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to 14178 Trollman Street at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday and found a heavily involved garage fire in the single story house. They were able to contain the fire to the garage, even though the rest of the home sustained smoke damage.

The residents told first responders that they were sleeping and awoke to their smoke alarm and escaped with no injuries.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Red Cross and the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office, who is currently investigating the cause of the fire, assisted HCFR. HCFR wants to remind residents that smoke alarms are a key part of a home fire escape plan and can alert occupants early enough to evacuate safely.
