Shot FL Armored Truck Guard Still Critical

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) _ An armed guard from a Loomis bank truck is in critical condition after a gunman shot him in the head as he left a central Florida Publix supermarket.

Altamonte Springs police Lt. Robert Pelton says the guard was conscious Thursday afternoon when he was taken to the hospital.

But his condition worsened Thursday night.

The Orlando Sentinel reports the suspect got away with cash. He left the scene in getaway car which police found abandoned several blocks away.

The store’s surveillance video captured the shooting.

About 30 shoppers and employees ran out a back entrance and waited as police investigated.

Police continue to search for the gunman and an accomplice.

Three weeks ago a Brink’s guard was robbed while filling an ATM near Orlando.

Two men were arrested in that case.
