Seffner man charged with attempted 1st degree murder

A Seffner man sought in a Dec. 1 shooting that critically injured another man was arrested Sunday.

Darnell Keyon Ammons, 21, was charged last week in an arrest warrant for attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of Dontavious Clark, 22.

Ammons and Clark got into an argument near 406 E Selma St. in Tampa. During it, Shamiria Hardrick, 22, who was pushing two children in a stroller, handed Ammons a gun, police said.

Ammons fired several times, hitting Clark in the upper body, police said. Clark ran to a nearby house and called for help.

Hardrick was arrested that day and remains in jail on $259,500 bail for charges of attempted murder, carrying a concealed firearm and child neglect.

Ammons eluded authorities until Sunday. Details of his arrest were not clear, but records indicate he was taken into custody at the Hillsborough County Jail.
