Officers with the Sarasota Police Department with assistance from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office are currently searching for Herminia Franco, 82, last seen at the YMCA at 1075 S Euclid Avenue, Sarasota.
Franco is believed to be on foot with no access to a vehicle and suffers from dementia. Franco is 82 years old, Hispanic female, 5 feet tall, 90 pounds, blonde hair, brown hairs and last seen wearing a pink jacket, lime green pants, white shoes.
At approximately 9 a.m. this morning, Franco’s daughter brought her to the YMCA to exercise. At some point, Franco left the facility and was last seen on camera heading south towards Bahia Vista at approximately 9:30 a.m. The Sarasota Police Department has officers currently canvassing the area searching for Franco. So far, officers have searched north to Fruitville Road, Bahia Vista Street to the south and currently Euclid Avenue west to the Sarasota Bayfront.
A reverse 911 call has been made within a 2-mile radius of the YMCA. Air 1 Helicopter from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has been paged as well as K9 Units from the Sarasota Police Department and Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
