Teen Bicyclist Struck By Car In St. Petersburg

A teen was struck by a car in St. Petersburg.

Police say that at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, a 14-year-old boy was riding his bike on 54th Avenue North on the sidewalk just outside Northeast High School when a car pulling out of the school hit him.

The driver exiting the school, a 16-year-old girl who attends the school, was traveling at a low speed but it still knocked the boy over.

His injuries are not life-threatening and he was taken to All Children’s to be checked out.

Police are investigating. 54th is now open to traffic after being closed briefly.
