Teen Nearly Runs Over Brother In St. Petersburg Driveway

A boy was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries after his brother was backing out of a driveway.

The St. Petersburg Police Department says Alex Tyler Radovanic, 16, was backing a 2004 Suzuki SUV out of the driveway at the home at 2316 Union Street South at 6:30 p.m. Monday night to make room for other kids to play basketball.

He failed to see his 6-year-old brother, Xavier Torres, on his skateboard behind the SUV. Torres was sitting on the skateboard at the time.

Torres made a sharp turn into the driveway and struck the rear of the backingvehicle. Radovanic felt the impact and stopped the vehicle before it ran over Torres’ upper body.

Torres was transported to All Children’s Hospital and he is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries.
