St. Petersburg Police Take 4 Minors Into Custody On Burglary Charges

St. Petersburg Police took 4 children, ages 4-14, into custody for breaking into the 20th Street Church of Christ, 820 20th Street South, and two church vans. This property is currently under renovation for the new Police Athletic League program.

Police say at 1:41 a.m. Sunday police were called to the church property for a burglary in progress.

Police took into custody a girl and boy, age 14, an 11-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old boy.

Investigators say the kids broke into a locked shed, burglarized two church vans, and entered the church through a window. When police arrived, they ignored commands to stop…and took off running and climbed a fence until a K-9 unit stopped them.

The 14 year old boy was arrested and charged with commercial burglary, 2 counts vehicle burglary, obstruction (fleeing from police) , and possession of burglary tools.

The 14 year old girl was arrested and charged with commercial burglary, 2 counts vehicle burglary, and obstruction.

The 11 year old girl was arrested and charged with commercial burglary and obstruction.

The 4 year old was released to relatives.
