Juvenile Burglars Try Wrong Car Door Handle

St. Petersburg Police detectives were working undercover in the area of 26th St. and 2nd Ave. North just before 6pm last night, where three teens (2 girls and a boy) were reported to be trying car door handles.

During the surveillance, one of the teens opened the door and attempted to burglarize one of the undercover vehicles, not realizing there was a detective inside.

The teens tried to run away, but detectives were able to catch and arrest them. They also had burglary tools in their possession.

The juveniles, ages 13,14, and 15, are suspected in other car burglaries in the city of St. Petersburg, and admitted to burglaries in Madeira Beach and Clearwater.
