St. Pete Father Arrested For Abusing 3-Month-Old

St. Petersburg police have arrested a 24-year-old man accused of abusing his 3-month-old son.

Police say the baby was brought to All Children’s Hospital by the mother, who had gotten a call at work from her husband, Norman Williams Jr.

Williams Jr. told his wife that the baby fell off the bed and appeared to be injured. It was later determined that the infant broke his arm. Further examination on the child revealed that in addition to the broken arm, the baby had multiple rib fractures, which were in different stages of healing.

Investigators went to the Mosley Motel, where the family was staying, to speak with Williams Jr. and found him in custody of five other children, ages one through eight. Two of the children were found to have bruises throughout their body, apparently from being struck with a belt.

Those children, ages five and six, stated that Williams Jr. had caused them harm. Two of the children also stated they had witnessed Williams Jr. struggle with the baby victim when it wouldn’t stop crying.

All of the children were taken into the protective custody of DCF.

Williams Jr. was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated child abuse and two counts of child abuse.
