Pedestrian Struck, Killed In St. Pete Beach

Police are investigating a pedestrian crash that occurred on St. Pete Beach.

According to police, the accident happened just after midnight on Wednesday. 48-year-old David Adamson of Treasure Island was driving north on Blind Pass Road at 78th Avenue in a 2004 Ford Focus when he struck 47-year-old Marie Denney of St. Pete Beach as she was crossing Blind Pass Road.

Denney was transported by ambulance to Palms of Pasadena Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at about 1:12 a.m.

Deputies say Denney was not using the crosswalk.

Investigators say alcohol on the part of the pedestrian may be a factor in the crash.

The investigation continues.
