A woman was held at gunpoint and a man was shot in the back during a home invasion overnight in St. Petersburg. It happened at 12:32 a.m. in the Camden Lakes apartments on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North.
St. Pete Police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez reports that a neighbor called 9-1-1 after hearing four or five gunshots.
Paramedics and police rushed to the scene and found a man who had been shot in the back in critical condition. He was transported to Bayfront Medical Center and is now in stable condition. His name hasn’t been released.
Fernandez said the people involved are not cooperating with the investigation that is currently going on. A variety of narcotics were found inside the victim’s apartment which suggest that the home invasion is likely drug related, according to investigators on scene.
The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Garrett Dennis. So far there is no update on his condition.
