St. Petersburg police say a man was seriously hurt after being run over by his own street sweeper. The accident happened just after 8:00 a.m. at Jefferson Circle SE and 4th Street North.
According to police, the man was trying to get on the vehicle when it moved and caused him to fall. The vehicle moved across his upper body when he was lying on the ground.
The unidentified man was transported to Bayfront Hospital and his condition is unknown, but his injuries appear to be critical, according to St. Pete Police.
Traffic Homicide investigators will provide a media release update later this afternoon.
