Man Dies After St. Petersburg Motorcycle Crash

A man died Sunday morning after he crashed as he was speeding down 38th Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

Police say 22-year-old Jimmie Allen Hawk was weaving in and out of traffic on his 1995 Honda motorcycle at about 8:58 a.m. as he was traveling eastbound toward Northside Baptist Church.

He crashed when 74-year-old Jeanne Louise Broderick was attempting to turn left into the church. Hawk was ejected after hitting the right side of Broderick’s 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt.

He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with life threatening injuries and later died during surgery, even though he had a leather jackets and helmet on at the time of the crash.

Next of kin has been notified and no charges are pending.
