Car Rams Officer, Crashed Into House, Police Say

A suspect driving a car that police believe to have been stolen injured an unmarked officer Tuesday morning, police say.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, just before 10 a.m., the officers in an unmarked vehicle attempted to stop the vehicle. The officer, in plain clothes, got out of the car and at this point, police say the suspect intentionally rammed the officer, trapping his foot.

After a pursuit, the car crashed into a home at 1147 James Ave. S. All three suspects are now in custody.

The injured officer was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Police say an elderly woman was sleeping in the house and was also taken to the hospital for precautionary measures. She was not injured in the crash.
