The Washington Post reports that “as many as 300 Americans” are fighting with ISIS and the government is gathering more information and intelligence. Officials say that the concern in Washington is that they’ll return to America and commit some radical terrorist attack with skills acquired in Iraq and Syria.
“We know that there are several hundred American passport holders running around with ISIS in Syria or Iraq,” the official said according to the Post. “It’s hard to tell whether or not they’re in Syria or moved to Iraq.”
Pictures appeared on Twitter threatening the US. One showed the White House with the IS flag flying at night. Another was the Highrise Building in Chicago with the message “We are in your state. We are in your cities. We are in your streets. You are our goals anywhere.”
The FBI is investigating.
