SOCHI — A member of the punk band Pussy Riot tweeted Tuesday that she and a bandmate have been detained, accused of theft, while walking through downtown Sochi.
The town of Sochi is just 20 miles from the main Olympic venues.
Nadezha Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina were taken to the police station in nearby Adler, and a series of activists detailed that journey via Twitter, posting photos of the police van carrying the duo.
