Prison For Shining Laser At Police Helicopter

It’s one year and one day in federal prison for a man who admits shining a laser light at a Tampa Police helicopter.

31 year old Jeremy Sumpter hit the chopper four times with his laser as the helicopter patrolled near his West Peninsular Street home.

Ground units went to the house and found several laser lights in the residence.

Shining a laser at any aircraft is a federal felony because the light can distract or even temporarily blind pilots.
