Poll: Americans Divided On Gun Violence

Among the attitudes a new ABC/Washington Post poll measures whether people see gun violence as a serious problem, whether the priority should be enacting new laws or protecting the right to own guns, and what folks believe are the root causes of recent episodes of mass shootings.

It serves as a comprehensive look of how Americans feel about the issue, broken down by party, race, sex, where one lives, and education.

If the numbers come out relatively evenly split, could indicate why movement on the issue is so difficult.
