Police seek tips in Clearwater burglaries

Police are seeking tips in smash-and-grab vehicle burglaries citywide. Since early October, there have been 21 of the crimes that appear related, according to Clearwater Police Department.

In one case the vehicle was unlocked. In the rest, a window was smashed. The burglaries have occurred at various locations, including business parking lots, medical facilities and a gym.

The male suspects are believed to be between 20 to 30 years old and possibly using a gray sport utility vehicle.

The department is urging the public to minimize similar crimes by removing valuables from their vehicles and keeping potentially valuable items out of site.

Anyone with information is asked to call Clearwater Police Department’s Tip Line, (727)-562-4080, and press 2. Tipsters can remain anonymous by sending information to the department’s website at www.clearwaterpolice.org or the department’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ClearwaterPolice.
