Police Find $40,000 Of Marijuana In Grow House

Two men, Vladimir Larosa, 50, and Ahmed Montano, 29, were arrested after police found they were in charge of a marijuana grow house.

On Tuesday, detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a Crime Stoppers complaint stating marijuana was possibly being cultivated inside 11634 Harmony Ranch Ln in Thonotosassa.

Detectives gathered enough information to obtain and execute a search warrant on the residence.

Police say they found several rooms at the home converted for the sole purpose of cultivating marijuana along with 19 marijuana plants which were growing inside soil-filled pots along with equipment used in the cultivation process. Detectives also located 11 pounds of processed marijuana which was in the process of being vacuum sealed.

The total weight of marijuana seized was nearly 20 pounds with an estimated street value of $40,000, police say.

Representatives with TECO responded and located an illegal electrical meter connection that was providing unauthorized power to the residence with an estimated theft of $2,100.

Both men were transported and booked into the Hillsborough County Orient Road Jail.
