Clearwater Police investigated a single-vehicle accident this morning that involved two pedestrians.
Police were called to the intersection of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and Meadow Lark Lane shortly after 5:30 a.m.
Two pedestrians were trying to cross Gulf-to-Bay from south to north when an eastbound car traveling in the median lane struck them.
The male pedestrian was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. The female pedestrian was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander was not injured. He is identified as Jeffrey Moore, 67, of Clearwater.
The male pedestrian tried to get the female out of the way of the car, but both were struck. Both pedestrians are from out of state.
The identities of the pedestrians will be released later. The investigation continues.
