Pinellas County deputies assigned to the Marine Unit are investigating the death of a female pit bull.
According to deputies, a fisherman found a deceased dog like the one seen above floating in the waterway near a channel leading into the Bartow Power Plant, just off the Weedon Island Preserve.
When deputies arrived, they determined that someone had tied a short rope around the dog’s neck and attached a cinder block to the rope leaving the dog in the water.
Deputies described the dog as a brindle or brown colored female pit bull with a white colored belly. The picture above is not said pit bull.
The dog’s remains were recovered from the waterway and were released to SPCA of Tampa Bay.
