A woman who was supposed to watching out for the well-being of an elderly person is now charged with taking advantage of her.
Pinellas Sheriff’s Office investigators say 54 year old Lisa Claffey stole $460 thousand from the 96 year old who had hired her to be caregiver.
They say Claffey forged and falsified documents so she could transfer money from the victim’s accounts to her own.
Investigators say Claffey used the money to pay off her own house and buy a new car.
Claffey is charged with grand theft from a person 65 years of age or older.
