Polk County detectives are investigating a fatal hit and run accident Friday morning.
At approximately 8:10 a.m. the PCSO emergency communications center received a report of an adult male lying on the east side of a ditch in the area of 9022 Kathleen Road in Lakeland. The victim was dead and a bicycle was found nearby.
Preliminary information suggests the victim was hit by a car sometime between 5:00 am to 7:30 am; however the time of day may vary as the investigation continues.
Positive identification has not yet been made. The investigation is ongoing.
