PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) _ Members of the Escambia Animal Advocates are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case of an abused cat.
The cat named Valiente was brought to the Humane Society of Pensacola after someone found her limping along a highway March 16.
Officials say she had been burned and bound with zip ties.
The Pensacola News Journal (http://on.pnj.com/ZYaPSp ) reports the cat is recovering after suffering second-degree burns to her back and lacerations to her side.
On Tuesday, Dr. Mark Sprayberry of Olive Branch Animal Hospital said Valiente still has several weeks of recovery left.
He told the newspaper he’s hoping to perform surgery next week to help some of the cat’s burned tissue heal.
Humane society officials reported the abuse to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
