Orlando: Retailers Help Soldiers Get Home For Xmas

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Retailers have pitched in to make sure some Florida National Guardsmen have the transportation to get home for the holidays.

Gov. Rick Scott announced 10 retailers helped raise $35,000 needed to get the soldiers back to Florida.

Soldiers from the Florida National Guard’s 3rd Artillery Battalion are expected to return to Camp Shelby, Miss., from Afghanistan on Christmas Eve.

The money raised by the retailers will help about 300 soldiers make it back to Florida to be with their families.

Earlier this week, Scott challenged the retailers on his Twitter feed to help come up with the money for the soldiers’ transportation.
