ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ An Orlando police officer shot a driver who ran over him while trying to leave a night club after an altercation.
Orlando police say the driver and the officer were taken to hospitals after the incident early Wednesday morning outside Roxy’s Night Club. Neither had life-threatening injuries.
According to police, three women were escorted outside the club after they were involved in a fight.
As two of the women were walking toward their vehicle, the other woman tried to run them over.
An officer working a security detail in the parking lot tried to stop the vehicle but the woman drove toward the officer and didn’t stop.
Police say he shot at the vehicle, striking the woman.
The vehicle hit the officer.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
