ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ An 11-month-old boy is recovering after sheriff’s deputies found him in the back seat of a stolen car near Orlando.

The boy’s father called 911 Wednesday afternoon to report his vehicle had been stolen from his apartment complex.

Orange County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Watrel says the father was leaving his apartment but ran back inside for something.

That’s when the thief took the car with the child inside.

Deputies started searching for the car and found it abandoned about a mile away.

They broke a window to get the child out.

He was warm but was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

The Orlando Sentinel reports deputies believe the thief left the car after seeing the child.
