As the White House tries to deal with the technical glitches that have plagued the new health care law, Republicans are ramping up their criticism of it.

Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell says the law “costs too much and it’s not working the way they promised.” And a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner (BAY’-nur) says of today’s White House event, “A speech doesn’t solve the problem.”

People who are having trouble enrolling online for health insurance under the health care law are being encouraged to do it the old-fashioned way — by phone. An increase in the staffing at call centers is one of the steps President Barack Obama is announcing today as he addresses the widespread problems with the rollout of the health care law.

Health officials say technology experts from inside and outside of government are being brought in to help diagnose the problems.
