NY Candidate, Ex-Madam Charged With Selling Pills

NEW YORK (AP) — A former madam running for New York City comptroller has been charged with selling prescription pills.

Federal prosecutors announced the charges against Libertarian candidate Kristin Davis on Tuesday. She was to appear in court later in the day.

Davis is among the candidates running against Democratic ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzer for the city’s top financial office.

She previously was convicted of promoting prostitution. She claims to have provided call girls to Spitzer, which has not been proven.

There was no immediate response to messages left with her campaign.

A criminal complaint alleges Davis sold hundreds of prescription pills to a person she knew was a drug dealer.
