As Measles Outbreak Grows, Parents Urged to Get Children Vaccinated

As the number of reported measles cases surpasses 100, the American Academy of Pediatrics is urging parents to get their children vaccinated. In addition, the Health & Human Services Department issued guidelines for adults who feel they need to be vaccinated.

Measles was declared eliminated in the United States in 2000, which means that the only way it was brought in to the United States was through visitors from other countries. Since 2000, the U.S. has had five instances where more than 100 people have been hit by the viruses.
