Mother Responsible For Autistic Son’s Death

CHICAGO (AP) — Prosecutors say a suburban Chicago mother and caretaker planned for more a week to kill a 14-year-old boy with severe autism.

A Cook County judge denied bond Wednesday for 50-year-old mother Dorothy Spourdalakis and 40-year-old caretaker Jolanta Skrodzka. Both women are charged with first-degree murder. Neither spoke at the hearing. Authorities say 14-year-old Alex Spourdalakis was stabbed numerous times in the chest. He was found lying on his bed in a second-floor River Grove apartment.
