LAX_Story_2013LOS ANGELES (AP) — More than 1,500 flights have been affected by yesterday’s shooting at Los Angeles International Airport.

Airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles says about 167,000 passengers have been impacted. Of those, 724 were scheduled arrivals with an estimated 67,850 passengers and 826 were departures with an estimated 99,200 passengers on board.

Terminal 3 remains closed as the investigation into the shooting continues.

A Transportation Security Administration officer was killed when a gunman opened fire in the terminal. Five other people were hurt, including two TSA workers and the alleged gunman.

Flights are arriving and departing from LAX, but airlines are cautioning that passengers may experience delays and should check their flight status before heading to the airport.
