Miami Walks To End Breast Cancer

Breast_Cancer_Walk_2013MIAMI (AP) — More than 300 teams will stride around the Marlins Park to raise money to research cures for breast cancer.

Saturday’s Making Strides Against Breast walk is backed by the American Cancer Society and will feature entertainment.

According to the Cancer Society, the event is part of the national series of events that began in 1984, when cancer survivor Margery Gould Rath decided to raise funds for the Society. The first walk was in Boston. Since then, nearly 300 communities around the country have hosted these events.
