Miami Man Gets Life for Hacking Jeweler to Death

MIAMI (AP) _ A South Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for hacking a jeweler to death and hiding his body parts in trash bins.

As part of a deal with Miami-Dade prosecutors, Guillermo Denis Gonzalez pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder and armed robbery.

The Miami Herald (http://bit.ly/IapwtH ) reports that police arrested Gonzalez in 2008 for the slaying of 58-year-old Sergio I. Quintero over a debt Gonzalez believed the jeweler owed him.

Police began investigating after someone found Quintero’s left leg in one of six commercial trash bins Gonzalez had dumped body parts throughout Hialeah.

Gonzalez previously spent 12 years in prison for another murder conviction.

He was released in 2004.
