One man is dead and another is in a local hospital following a late Thursday night stabbing in Lutz.

The Pasco County 911 Center received a call at 11:45 p.m. Thursday regarding a domestic dispute. When deputies arrived at the home, located at 24941 Oakhaven Court, the body of a deceased male was found inside. His identity is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

Witnesses told Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies that 42-year-old Erick Von Reinhart left his Hillsborough County home and went to the Oakhaven Court home to confront his ex-wife and her new boyfriend. Erick and Amy Reinhart were recently divorced and Erick Reinhart had moved out of the Lutz home they once shared and into an apartment in Hillsborough County.

There was no sign of forced entrance at the Oakhaven Court home. Once inside, Erick Reinhart confronted the boyfriend and stabbed him to death, using a large knife he brought with him to the scene. At that time, Amy Reinhart’s sister, who was in a different room inside the home, called 911.

When deputies arrived, they found the body of the boyfriend inside the home. In a bathroom in the home, Erick Reinhart was found on the floor and bleeding heavily from self-inflicted stab wounds to his neck and abdomen. He was taken to a local hospital by helicopter. He has not been charged with the murder of the boyfriend, but those charges are imminent.

The knife used in the stabbing was recovered at the scene.

It was later discovered Erick Reinhart left his 5 and 6 year-old children, with whom he has in common with his ex-wife, alone inside his Hillsborough County apartment.

Neither the children nor Amy Reinhart and her sister were harmed in the attack.
