A Bradenton man was arrested for accessing his neighbor’s apartment through the ceiling and stealing items.
Michael Hearns, 33, admitted to the crimes and blames them on marijuana, diet pills, alcohol, and red bull. He also admits knowing what he was doing is wrong.
According to WWSB-TV, via the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the victim and her son heard sounds coming from the attic in their Champion’s Walk apartment last week and later noticed tools and undergarments missing from the apartment. The son also noticed neighbor Hearns on his balcony shaking dust off himself. She then called the sheriff’s office.
Police contacted the suspect on Monday, at which time he admitted to climbing into his attic and stealing whatever he could reach through the ceiling. He also admitted to falling through his own ceiling while returning to his apartment.
