Man Aiming For Party Crashers, Shoots Uncle

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Jefferson County sheriff’s officials say the man arrested in a fatal shooting at a birthday party was aiming for two uninvited guests but accidentally shot his uncle instead.

Sheriff’s spokesman Randy Christian says a fight broke out at a party early Saturday when two party crashers refused to leave. Authorities have said the two uninvited guests were stabbed during the fight and returned to the party.

Christian says 28-year-old Marcus Jarell White came through the back door of the business that was hosting the party and took aim at the two party crashers. Christian says White’s 52-year-old uncle Roosevelt Parker Jr. was fatally wounded instead.

White surrendered on a murder charge and is free on $50,000 bond. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
