Lithia “Body Farm” Plan Nixed

The University of South Florida is abandoning its quest to build a “body farm” on several acres of land in Lithia near the Hillsborough County Sheriff training facility.

The decision comes after Thursday night’s meeting where one hundred residents who live near the proposed site expressed concern about everything from odor, to animals dragging body parts into their yards, to declining property values.

The “body farm” is place where researchers study the effects of nature like sun, wind, rain, and wildlife on the bodies of crime victims.

USF did not say where an alternate site for the facility might be.
